Kindergarten Teacher Job Description
The goal of the Weekday Education Program of First Baptist Church of Augusta, Georgia is to nurture the spiritual, mental, social, emotional, and physical development of each child within a safe and loving environment. Job Overview:
The Weekday Education Program of First Baptist Church of Augusta is seeking a loving, compassionate, and dedicated Kindergarten Teacher to join our staff. This teacher will be responsible for creating a nurturing and educational environment where young children can grow spiritually, emotionally, and academically. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children, an understanding of Christian values, and a passion for teaching and guiding children in their early development.
Supervision:
The Kindergarten Teacher reports directly to the Minister to Preschool and Families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Nurture the spiritual, mental, social, emotional, and physical development of each child within a safe and loving environment.
- Share the love of Jesus through words, attitudes, and
- Care for students from the time they arrive to the time they are picked up each
- Plan and implement age-appropriate lesson plans in line with the program’s curriculum and meeting the Kindergarten Georgia Standards for Excellence.
- Foster a positive and loving environment that encourages spiritual, emotional, and intellectual growth.
- Utilize developmentally appropriate practices and provide individual and group instruction tailored to the diverse learning needs of students.
- Build positive, supportive relationships with children, parents, and weekday
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child’s progress, behavior, and well-being
- Attend monthly staff meetings, planning meetings and other required enrichment and planning days.
- Direct paraprofessionals to effectively assist in the classroom (when present).
- Maintain student records and
- Evaluate students’ progress and hold conferences with parents/guardians.
- Provide teaching plans for substitutes when absent from the
- Attend and participate in special events such as the Christmas Program, End-of-Year Program and Kindergarten Graduation.
- Follow guidelines outlined in the employee
- Uphold the policies and procedures of the church and the program, including child safety and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of experience in early childhood education (preferably in a Kindergarten setting).
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field
- An understanding of child development and learning strategies for young
- A personal commitment to Jesus Christ as well as a heart for working with children in a faith-based setting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills in working with children, their families, and co-workers.
- Must pass a background check, drug test, and adhere to the church’s child safety
Hours & Compensation:
- Part-time position (approximately 25 hours per week) from August through May.
- Compensation will be based on experience, education, and applicable certifications
