Dear Church,

It’s hard to believe that we are already in the month of September! The old saying that “time flies when you are having fun” seems more appropriate to me than ever before. This has been an incredible year at the First Baptist Church and I can’t wait to see what the remainder of this year has in store for us as a community of faith. But before I get into the upcoming events in the life of our church, I want to spend a moment celebrating. Two weeks ago, we hosted our “Connection” dinner, where we invited recent guests from Sunday morning to come and learn more about who we are as a church and why FBC is such an amazing place to call home. I am thrilled to tell you that over thirty people attended and we welcomed seven new faces into the life of our congregation! You can learn their names and see a photo from the evening in this edition of the digital Interpreter.

Moving into the upcoming weeks, I simply want to remind you of a few important dates that are coming up in the life of our church,

This Sunday we kick off a new sermon series where we are taking a deep look at how we can live into the purpose that God has for our lives. While I get pretty excited about every sermon that I preach, I am particularly pumped about this series, in large part because it speaks to something that each and every one of us has wrestled with over the course of our lives. Whether you have been in church every Sunday of your life or you haven’t been in Sunday worship for ten years, this is a series that I know you will find meaningful and impactful for your life.

Also, this Sunday is the final day for you to nominate deacons for this year. If you are a member of our church, then you should have received a nomination form in the mail last month. All you need to do is fill it out and drop it off at one of the boxes located all across our campus. If you somehow did not receive your nomination form in the mail, simply stop by the church office and we will make sure that you get the form in time to make your voice heard!

Finally, I want you to go ahead and get Sunday, October 2nd on your calendar. That afternoon, from 5:30-7:30, we will be hosting a churchwide tailgate event! The church will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks. You can bring your favorite tailgate dish to share. We will have inflatables for the kids, outdoor games for students, and fellowship for all. Seating will be available in the Missions Activity Center (MAC) with a few football games to watch, as well. Make plans to join us for a great night! In fact, this is one of those moments where it’s easy to invite your friends to come and be a part of the fun.

Friends, it is an incredible time to be at the First Baptist Church of Augusta. We are doing so many amazing things in our church and I can’t tell you how honored I am that I get to lead during this remarkable time in the life of our church.

As always, let me know if there is anything that I can do for you.

Grace and Peace, Will
