I was scrolling across my social media feeds a few days ago when some pictures popped up from two years ago. The photos were from my graduation ceremony at Mercer University, where I completed my doctorate in 2019. Assembled in those images were family and friends who had gathered together to celebrate the culmination of three years of intense academic work! While I looked at those photos, I was reminded of how much I loved being able to celebrate such an important moment in my life, surrounded by friends and family.

This Sunday in our worship services, we will be celebrating the Class of 2021! These young men and women have experienced a few school years unlike anything most of us have ever known or imagined. Our students come from a variety of schools from all across the CSRA. The time has arrived when they will wear their caps and gowns to celebrate the completion of a significant part of their journey. Before they walk across the platform at their formal graduation ceremonies, we want to be able to celebrate their achievement here at the First Baptist Church of Augusta!

I hope you will make plans to be present with us this Sunday in worship. I want to ask that you commit to being present this Sunday, not only to celebrate their achievement but, more importantly, to pray for these students as they prepare to embark on the next stage of their journeys. It is going to be a wonderful day at the First Baptist Church. I hope to see you on Sunday!

Grace and Peace,
