I am writing to you because on Monday afternoon, I was made aware that a worship volunteer at FBC Augusta has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual was present on our campus in the Ministry Activities Center on the evening of Wednesday, June 17th as we filmed our online contemporary worship experience. Each of the nine people that were present that evening have been notified by our staff and they are taking the necessary steps to ensure they have not contracted the virus. I also want you to know that the individual who tested positive is doing well and continues to show no symptoms.
The Ministry Activities Center was sanitized on Thursday afternoon, so we are highly confident that those who were present on Sunday morning were not exposed to the virus as a result of their attendance in worship on June 21, 2020. The individual who tested positive was not on campus for Sunday morning worship and at no point on Wednesday was he in the Storey Chapel or the Sanctuary. As a precautionary measure, we made the decision on Monday evening to close our buildings until the staff members who were tested receive their results, which should be no longer than 3-5 days.
I am proud of the way our team jumped into action once the word was received on Monday afternoon. After meeting on Tuesday evening with the COVID Response Team, we agreed that because of the safety measures put in place by our church, along with the rapid response of our team, we will continue with in-person worship this Sunday June, 28th. We are now in a moment where people we know are being impacted by the pandemic. As your pastor, I pray that you will be safe when you are out in the community. Exercise caution when you are out in public and take the necessary steps to ensure you are staying safe.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Don’t forget that if you plan on attending worship on Sunday, you will need to register through our website at DiscoverFBC.org.
I hope you have a wonderful week. Whether on-line or in person, I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
Grace and Peace,
