Dear Church,

In a normal summer, we have our usual rhythms. Youth camp is happening right now. We just finished a wonderful week of VBS. These are incredible events that we look forward to every year. Outside of a few weeks of excitement, the summer season is usually a much slower pace for our church.

Notice that I said usually. This summer is an exception. Not only this summer, but this week in particular. It’s a busy and exciting week because we are finally able to introduce you to our candidate to become the new Minister to Students.

In this edition of the Interpreter, I am thrilled for you to learn more about Matt Hester and his incredible family. Matt is a phenomenal addition to our pastoral team and throughout the search process, he stood out as the perfect fit for our church. You can learn more about his resume by continuing to read this email.

Matt and his family will be with us this Sunday in worship at 9:00 and 11:00. Later in the afternoon, we will have an ice cream social at 5:00, where you will have the opportunity to spend more time with the Hester family. Following the ice cream social, we will have Church in Conference at 6:00 where we officially vote to make Matt our new Minister to Students.

I want to take a moment and thank our search committee. We have arrived at this moment in large part because of their faithfulness and commitment to FBC. When you see members of the committee on campus, make sure to tell them how much you appreciate their hard work.

I can’t wait to see you on Sunday morning.

Grace and Peace,
